About this website

Some history

During my study I owned a small website on the university server, colourful with much blink and animations. Well, I guess everybody started this way then. But after leaving the university, the website was removed.
Some years later, in a sleepless night on the 20th septembre 2004 I thought about building up a new website, what content should be on this page and how it should look like. And after much more brain storming a website grew up. Main content was my pocket watches. In the autumn of 2008 the first trade marks appeared and increased to a really huge amount of data. In novembre of 2009 the website design was changed to the current form.

Mikrolisk?

How do you create a nice name for a website? Well, most of the names I thought of were already in use. It should be a short and concise name, with a nice portion of charme, but not icky. So I played around with words, like "obelisk" (I kept the last syllable lisk from that word) and Mikro (not micro, I am living in germany!) - and the whole name was born, Mikrolisk.

Well, pocket watches were and are my hobby, thus they were the main topic on my website. In its first time, the website was also a playground of ideas like photos of holidays, a blog, but with the time, I noticed that more and more information on watches were on this page, while other parts like the photo section were neglected. So I dedicated the website completely to pocket watches, only some cooking recipes survived, and a section about straight razors and old german handwritings.
Then a newcomer section was added, with answers to questions like how to open a watch, how to wear a watch and such things I was asked again and again.
